We Love Camping!!!
There are so many reasons our lives are better told in pictures. Not only are they worth thousand words, they are prettier and less rambly too.
All you have to know is that we went camping with some friends and loved every second of it.
Oliver's quote of the trip: "I want more crawdads, they are so good- they taste just like caterpillars!"...Uhhh, I should watch this child better when he is outside, right? Eeek.
Our last camping trip was great too! Oh, and we had some super yummy food.
Do any of you know un-crowded, way cool, camping places in Oregon? Or do you have a favourite camping memory?
Things That Scream Summer
There are triggers to be pulled, buttons pushed, or keys needing turning that will jump start a person into the Summer season. My button is sun tea. Sun tea, sun tea, SUN TEA. I use a big, very big jar and fill it with water and add handfuls of lemon balm and about 10 tea bags. I drink it all day long after letting it sit in the sun for half a day, adding the necessary amount of sugar and then time to chill in the fridge or some ice. Oh, that screams summer to me.
I know the boys think of water when they think summer. They think of pools, hot tubs and sprinklers or even a bucket would probably do. I was a kid- swimming was all I wanted to do in the summer. Our parents would drop us off at the public pool in our town in Spain when it opened at 10 am with a lunch and a towel and picked us up at 8pm which was closing time. Upon arriving home we needed some food and immedate treatment for our always-horrid, Ipromisetoputsunscreanonnexttime-sunburns (oh, yeah- back in the day when sunshine wasn't known as deadly yet) then we'd lay in minimal clothing letting the cool-as-possible breeze of a fan blow over our After Sun slathered skin. Repeat. Repeat. We did that every day, all summer. So, yes I get the need to swim thing. Hearing the boys shriek and giggle through the sprinkler still screams summer over and over.
There are so many things that make me think Summer. But I'd like to hear from you. What screams summer to you???
Work and Play in the Garden
How does your garden grow? Ours grows with water, weeding, and watching. The boys enjoy helping me with their red wagon, they pretend to "harvest" weeds, and then bake them in the sun to kill them. These are all activities that I welcome, as they are becoming pretty rapidly semi-professional weeders. The progress the garden is making is good as well. There are currently TONS of green tomatoes just waiting to ripen up. I harvested variegated sage, pineapple sage and chamomile last week. I'll be sure to put some pictures of up of that process.
