    I’m still awake! Barely…

Okay, my favorite holiday memory ever… is my the last year that I got a stocking at my Grandma’s house. Although it’s really a kind of sad memory. At my grandparents’ house for Christmas all the grandchildren have (or had I suppose) Christmas stockings that my grandma made for us. I am the youngest grandchild, so about two years ago was the last year that I got stocking stuffers and then my grandma told me that I could take my stocking home. I’m not sure why I like this memory, I guess because I’ve always been really close to my grandmother and it felt like validation that she thought I was grown up.

I’d like to be entered for 1 and 2.

    *yawn*

  2. Ash says:

& by one and two I meant Christmas and Hanukkah, boy it’s late.

  3. Bitsy says:

I’m still awake, for now. I think I will make it, on my third wind now.

My favorite Christmas memory would have to be the one year my brother and I managed to circumvent our parents and sneak downstairs before they woke up on Christmas morning. It was still dark out, but the tree was lit, as were the electric candles in the windows. The stockings were bulging with presents and under the tree was overflowing with them, or so it seemed. It had all appeared over night as if by magic and we both just stood there and didn’t say a word and just looked. And, then went back upstairs and curled up in my bed and waited for the parents to wake up. We had our magic moment and it could sustain us until morning.

I’d like to be entered for Christmas only please.

  4. BrownGirl says:

i’m still in it. i’m so sleepy. power nap helped a little.

  5. Corina says:

I’ve been reading all this time so I just now saw this. I’m still around. Not asleep, although I should be.

Favorite holiday memory is tough but as the years pass and I lose my siblings, I would have to say that the favorite memory is of being a child on Christmas day. My birthday is on Christmas and as a child I thought the whole world was happy on my birthday. That was a pretty special feeling. The best thing was that we were all together…my parents, my six siblings, and me. There were a lot of us and even though, at times, we fought, we were always there for one another. Now, with only three siblings left, I appreciate my brothers even more now that they are gone. I guess the favorite memory is of being together as a family on Christmas.

I would be happy to be entered for any or all of the packages.

And thank you. This has been a blast!

  6. I am going very very slow. Haven’t finished a single book. Reading a shrt story collection. It is daytime and yet I am stressed out.

  7. Yes, I’m awake…after a short sleepy interlude!

My favorite Christmas memory(ies)…my sister and I used to put on two man (girl) shows (we called them pageants) every year for my parents. We would choose several songs carefully from our Christmas record collection and we would make up routines and sing along. We took it very seriously, but it was such great fun!

I would be interested in Package 1.

Thanks for the giveaway and for keeping us motivated!

  8. [...] is still up and active and reading on into the night – luck West Coasters! Thanks again to Bethany for being such a lovely host! I’ll be posting slightly more detailed reviews of the books I [...]

I’m off! Bed calls and I think I’ve done fine for my first read-a-thon. Thanks so much for hosting! Too tired to even sign up for this fabulous giveaway so good luck to everyone who wins. It’s been great!!

  10. I iz still here, and going strong with a new book that I’m enjoying! I’m crazy and on my fourth wind, but I’m loving it. It’d be wicked to be entered for the 2nd prize pack you got there :D I’m in Canada. My blog is still being updated regular-like: http://perpetualspiral.blogspot.com

    My Favourite Holiday Memory

Hands-down: Tickets to Disney World!! I was four years old, missing my two front teeth (and sick of hearing that stupid song about me wanting them back for Christmas!), and also got a stuffed Raccoon named Rocky. I think my mom still has the picture of me and my brother holding our home-made “tickets” to the Magical Land of Disney, so I can just see us now! Me in my yellow pajamas with the feet, holding my Rocky Raccoon in the crook of my arm, sh*t-eating tooth-missing grin on my little face! And I remember Disney World too, it was super fun, even for a little girl. Of course, we had to wait a few months before we went, but man, can you ask for a better Christmas gift? Nope!

  11. debnance says:

My favorite Christmas memory: I remember the year my husband went to my Amazon wishlist and ordered twenty books from it! I had books to read for months and months.

I would be interested in Kwanza or Christmas.

  12. christina says:

You did an excellent job hosting this. I wish I could have participated! What fun. :)

  13. Kathryn says:

This was a lot of fun. I had to sleep for a while, but I am going to make up for that by reading longer today. I love read-a-thons! So much fun!!! Thanks for doing this for all of us! It was a lot of fun!!!

  14. Kathryn says:

Oh, I will post my favorite christmas story. On the Christmas of my senior year of High School, my mom stayed up all night sewing me a Regency Era dress. I had always wanted on and so she made on for me and then an outfit for my youngest sister (she was 4 at the time). I wore it to church. My parents are missionaries in West Africa, so they didn’t think it was out of the ordinary to wear an outfit like that in Western Culture. It was such a beautiful outfit and everything about it showed how much my mother loved me.

  15. I finished just now – an hour late because I actually started an hour late. But I did it, without any naps! I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to books, can you tell?

I had a terrific time, and I want to thank Dreadlock Girl from the bottom of my heart for putting together such a great event. It was perfection! Thanks also to everyone who posted encouragement on my blog and who hosted the break fun on their blogs. So proud of all of us! I look forward to the next Readathon I can participate in :)

    Take care all <3

  16. tanabata says:

Thanks for hosting this read-a-thon, Bethany. Even though I only participated part of the time, it was great to fit a bit of quality reading time into my weekend. Sweet dreams!

  17. EL Fay says:

It is 2:20, Sunday afternoon, and I am ashamed to say that, once again, I only lasted to one in the morning. Thanks a ton for hosting!

  18. Trish says:

Hey girlie–just saw your tweet about missing your favorite commenter for your readathon. :( My apologies. I haven’t been blogging in over a month and don’t even dare to check my Google Reader anymore.

Looks like you had a really successful readathon and lots of participants! Hope you’re doing well. :)

  19. Melanie says:

Congrats to all those who lasted the full 24 hours! It was fun. =)
