How To Make Your Very Own Wool Dreads

Wanna be a dreadlock girl/guy too?
Each dreadlock only takes about 15 minutes!!
These can be added to dreads as I show in the video, or to attach them to un-dreaded hair you can make a loop with one end of the dread, and then bind it with some yarn or twine. Slide that loop up a proportionate section of your hair and then you can either braid it in up at the very top so it will stay or use another hair tie or twine to tie it into place. You can use this method of attaching your wool dread to a natural hair dread as well if you want it to be longer.

Make them for yourself or as a gift for your teens, college girls- sure to please, who wouldn't want a dreadlock!?!

I am headed off to make more wool roving dreads they are too easy!

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be glad to try and answer them for you.

I've been dreadlock girl for 3 years now. I've gone through all the stages at this point, in the beginning they were smothered with dread wax which I soon decided not to use anymore, then they shrunk way up as they dreaded tighter, and now they are finally getting longer and longer. I wash them about twice a month now, if I wash them more my hair and scalp really dries out. I am still very happy with them, more even than in the beginning. Lovin' this journey!

one year later: dread update

I made my dreads a year ago now, (actually a year 2 months or so) I have no regrets. none. For me it is the perfect hairstyle, since I don't like to fuss and mess with my hair every morning. okay, and just to clear it up, dreaddies do shower. I could shower every day, I don't...but I could. I wash them too, did you know that? I have a non-residue leaving soap that I use. I do need to oil them to keep the fuzzies down, but I do that about once a month now (since the dreads are pretty tight) and it takes about 30 min.

I will tell you that in the beginning they are TONS of work, and I did doubt once or twice if I would make it through the process. I wondered if my hair would even dread at all....but with no problem it did. My hair is now done shrinking, which is great. It "shirnks up as all the knots form and the dreads tighten. Since I have fine hair they shrunk more. I really should weave in the frizzies...I just have never gotten around to it. I think I need a crochet hook for that, yeah I have not gotten that yet.

So, the reason for dreading my hair? I will tell you about it soon.

state of my locks

This is Samson slaying a lion. Samson is said to have had locks...in the Bible it says that Delilah cut his seven locks. What else would that mean?!
Besides the fact that some people had them, and some did not...the history of locks is a bit ambiguous, but it pretty much seems that many nations want to claim the idea of locks.
Whatever, anyway....here is an update on the state of mine in stills. I love them, they are so easy to manage and I don't have to worry about having to style them all the time. (I don't think I ever did with regular hair either...but oh, well.) They are actually quite a bit of work as they are forming, but it is getting to be less and less of "palm rolling" and smothering them with wax, and all that. So...here are the pics. (oh, and I put glass beads in them now too...yay!)

dreaddie!!!

These pics are huge...sorry about the quality, I took them on my phone.  I have dreads now. I had dreads once before but my hair was really short, this time they are forming better. They are kind of high maintenance in the beginning...but I am looking forward to the easy days with them.
