We Are Not All Good At Everything

I tried and I failed. I wanted to be a couponer- but I get anxious and stressed and it just doesn't quite work out. I wish it did because I know of many ladies who score free movie tickets (ehem....yep) and all the toothbrushes they could ever use for free. I wish it didn't make my heart race and my brain tingle but it does. It does. Maybe that makes sense, and maybe it doesn't, however I am sure you can relate in some way.

You know that right? We are all not good at everything, even things we wish we could be good at. There are so many things I am not good at and I am okay with (ei. couponing, cleaning...), and others that I wish I had given myself a chance to learn. Here it comes...I wish I could dance, street dance to be exact.  I wish I had tried it, knew where to learn it and was excellent at it already. I sometimes wonder if I would have been good at it, and I tell myself that I would have been just to make me feel better about not knowing at all. I have watched all the street dancing movies available- they are horridly stupid with plots that my 5 year old could come up with, but the street dancing intrigues me.

Breakdancing clip.

When you have a dream do you feel the urge to conquer it, or do you just sit back and watch life tick by? What do you wish you were good at??

  1. I think we all have some dreams we conquer (at least I hope so) and some we let slip by. It’s interesting to imagine why we don’t pursue some dreams. Are those things we know, deep down, we wouldn’t really be good at? Or are they things we know would mean so much to us that we would despair if we failed? Or are those unpursued dreams things we secretly know we could be very good at, but don’t want to put in the work or don’t want to be consumed by them? Thanks for the thought-provoking post :)

    • Thanks for that Rachel, there are really so many reasons we don’t reach out towards our dreams. I know that mostly for me it is the time thing- and that I am afraid to not be good at something I like to think I could be good at.

  2. How recognizeble! I always wanted to learn to play a musical instrument, when I was a child: this was not taken serious by my parents who insisted I should continue my drawing. Now I am an artist(illustrator, kostumes etc) but I still admire people with musical skills. There are lots of other things I dreamed of learning also like dancing(never had time for Jazzballet when I was in Highschool)but I guess I am too old now to become really good. And I have some more dreams that will never come through because of my very bad health even though I worked really hard for it. Since I have many interests I had to learn you cannot become good at anything in one lifetime.

  3. One word: RAD. Loved the post. I have often said I wanted to learn hip hop or parkour. It is a dream but not a reality at this point in life. That is ok with me. I will enjoy the fact that I can watch other people jam and dance with amazing God given skill.
