Two Crocheted Coffee Sleeve Patterns

IMG_0867

I taught myself to crochet using you tube videos about two months ago and over the last month I have really started going crochet crazy. Ready to join me?? I hope so. I wanted a pattern just like the ones below, but wasn't able to find it anywhere-so I made up my own. I am sure they are imperfect, if you find a problem do let me know, or if you don't too!!

Both patterns are extremely similar, but because I made them both I figured I'd share them.

Warm Hands Coffee Sleeve Pattern

I call this one warm hands because the tipple crochet stitch will allow heat to seep through while still giving the holder of the cup enough of a barrier from that insanely hot yummy beverage they are about to consume. Can be flipped to display buttons either way (for righty or lefty), just turn sleeve upside down or right side up.

IMG_0862I used Impeccable from Loops and Threads Impeccable- it is a worsted weight (4 Medium) with a size H/5.0mm crochet hook.

Chain 29
Turn
DC in each of the 29 chained stitches to end of row
Turn
TC the 29 stitches to end of row
Turn
SC all stitches to end of row
Turn
TC all stitches to end of row
Turn
DC whole row to end
Tie and weave in ends, finished work should measure about 11 inches long and 3 inches high.  Add buttons to one side of the strip so you can button it to the other end and make a cuff.

Enjoy that drink without burning your hands and while saving a tree- or a branch! HA!

(Because I did make this pattern up, there could be problems with the abbreviations, however I am pretty sure it is right. If you try it and have any problem let me know!)

Not Too Toasty Coffee Sleeve Pattern

To be sure and keep your hands away from the hot, hot, HOT drink in a portable cup (mine is ceramic, although it appears paper) snap up your crochet hook and within no time you'll have a coffee sleeve you can use over and over- and it is way cuter than cardboard! Can be flipped to display buttons either way (for righty or lefty), just turn sleeve upside down or right side up.

I used Impeccable from Loops and Threads Impeccable- it is a worsted weight (4 Medium) with a size H/5.0mm crochet hook.

Turn
SC in each stitch to end of the row

Repeat from * to * 2 more times
DC in each stitch to end of row
Tie ends and weave in yarn. Finished work should measure about 11 inches long and 3 inches high.  Add buttons to one side of the strip so you can button it to the other end and make a cuff.

Oh, don't forget the buttons. I did three, you do as many as you like!

A Handmade Christmas: I will keep posting ideas for a non-tacky handmade christmas. This is the first so far, I am a little slower this year as my babybelly is making me tired. I will still try and get quite a few ideas up before Christmas that you can make for family and friends I will re-post from the years gone by as well.

  1. Oooh – those are so cute. I have been wanting to learn to crochet and YouTube seems perfect for it!

  2. Love these! I’m on a huge crocheting kick too lately. Quick question: What weight yarn did you use?

  3. Thank you Bethany!! How come I don’t get your blog updates via email anymore?..hmm. I will try to sign up again. Take care!

  4. Hi! This is just the pattern I was looking for! Thank you!

I just now found your blog looking for a coffee sleeve pattern like this, and what a surprise. I’m excited to follow your blog. My husband and I our looking to simplify like your family. It is an encouragement to find a blogger like you! :)

  5. Love it! I’m new to crochet so…here goes nothing!

  6. Hi :) What does it mean to “dc in each stitch to the end of the row?” Thanks so much!!

  7. Love the pattern! Thanks for sharing! It was super quick and easy. I even added a different color trim all the way around for accent.

  8. Hi, i’m working on the cozy and it seems to be a lot smaller than it should but i’ve made it to the SC part and i was wondering if i should just keep going with the pattern? thanks!

  9. Looks super cute! I’m making one right now. I think it’s important to add that you have to either chain 1 or 2 (depending on the next rows stitch) at the end of each row.

  10. Hi I was wondering if you had to go in the back stitch for every row of DC or was it just that starting row? Thanks:)

    • Sorry, that is confusing. So I just meant DC in each of the stitches you have chained. Through both loops, just normal- I meant go back into each of them. I see how it is confusing. Does that clear it up or make it more confusing?? Enjoy your crochet!!

And I made an edit, so the pattern should be easier to follow now. Thanks for pointing that out :)
