Dreadlock Girl Reading in 2009

IMG_7353

In 2009 I read 100 books. I was trying to make it to one hundred, and I scrounged to get there. Because of homeschooling, crafting and cooking there are tons of odd books on my list. That is just the way life is right now, and I make no excuses because I wouldn't want it any other way. Sometimes (many times) after a long day of "working" around the house it has been hard for me to want to pick up a deep book or thought provoking one. What you see is what I read, for better or for worse. I wish I had some more intelligent books there-but I haven't wanted to ready them so I don't. Yep, that is that. Still I have some great favourites from what I read this year. I'll have to think about which are the top of the top, there are many that I loved this year.

For now, some cover art.

  1. I totally remember that stage of life – when caring for the house and young children totally zapped all my energy. But you have the right attitude — these days will quickly fade away, and it is best to enjoy them to their fullest. There will be plenty of other years to read more “intellectual” books.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful 2010!

  2. Congratulations on hitting 100! I’ve been trying to read 100+ books a year for a couple of years now and have never done it so I’m very impressed.

    Happy new year!

  3. Love my book pillow! It really frees up my hands to journal!

    • I am so glad you are happy with it. I thought of you when I got that pattern. On the pattern it says, “perfect for grandmas with sore hands or kids with small hands”. I guess next I need to make the boys some?? Actually Brad and i really want them, maybe we’ll be next!

  4. What a great reading year! I never read anywhere near that amount when The Girl was younger.

Wishing you all the best in 2010.

  5. Woo hoo on 100 books. I just barely made that goal myself. I’m stopping by to wish you and your family the happiest of new years.

  6. You should join the book club my sis and I started. We’re looking for a couple more women, but want to keep it at about 10 women or less. :) You would be welcome!

  7. Congratulations on reading 100 books! That is quite an accomplishment, especially with little ones in the house. I also wanted to mention that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your reading pillow! I so want one but can’t sew to save my life. I love the pockets and extras you added to it. Enjoy 2010!
