Bath Salts Soak Recipe
Spring Scents Bath Salts
3 Cup Epsom Salt
1 Cup Course Sea Salt
1/2 Cup Baking Soda
2 Tbs. Liquid Glycerin
12 drops lavender essential oil
6 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil
Food Colouring Red and Blue (optional)
Use more or less essential oil depending on how strong you want your bath to be scented. Combine ingredients. I never use a particular order, just be sure to combine them completely so that you have a uniform mixture of relaxation and calm. I poured the salts into pint sized jars and added a lavender flower to the front of each just for pretties sake. The lavender and Ylang Ylang really settle a body down, bringing calm and peace. For an extra charged bath grab your Bible and some worship music to blast you into perfection.
Citrus Blooms Bath Salts
4 Cups Epsom Salts
2 Cups Sea Salt
3 Cups Baking Soda
2 Tbs. Liquid Glycerin
10 drops Lemon essential oil
10 drops Sweet Orange oil
10 drops Ylang Ylang oil
Food Colouring (optional)
Combine ingredients in a big bowl. I realized when I was dumping some of this into the bath, that yellow is not a great choice for bath salts, so I would recommend making this a different colour, or leaving it white. It is up to you. This is perfect for that soothing bath after a long day, read the Bible, listen to some tunes and restore all that faith goodness back into you. Great for relaxation and refreshing of the body too! Just as above I poured the salts into pint size Ball jars for gifts this Christmas. I also left half of the mix without colour and alternated to make a striped pattern.

Hmm, love the idea of having a bath in my own bath salt
. That will have to wait for another life I guess. For the moments I’m just enjoying your ideas and photos and will keep those in mind for a later date!
I know! I didn’t realize just how good a bath soak is for your body- to help replenish minerals and help you relax. So much better than bubbles!!!
I love bath salts, and they are always so expensive to buy. I’ve been wanting to make my own for a while. I will have to remember not to use yellow coloring.
I’m not a big fan of lavender – it’s not my favorite.
The citrus scents look awesome though!
Where do you find the essential oils?
They were supprisingly easy to make. Just some stirring. The hardest part was figuring out what smell to add. If you don’t like lavender you could just do the ylang ylang, it is a good flower cent without being overpowering.
I got the essential oils at the First Alternative Co-Op here in Corvallis. Any self-respecting health food store would carry them though.
Let me know how it goes!
I just found your blog. Love it. I used to go to high school with Brad and worked with him at the Beanery for a while.
I just started knitting dish cloths for gifts for Christmas. Isn’t it fun (and fast)?
I love this idea to go with the wash cloths! I had to laugh out loud at the idea of yellow-colored bath water. Kinda like “never eat yellow snow” huh?
I’d love to get our boys together some day. And I LOVE your wordpress blog. So much better than blogger (but I just can’t find the time to put into a new blog).
Blessings,
Janine
I totally remember you. I was so frequent at the Bean back then
I just checked your blog out and it is awesome! I worked with blogger for a long time, then I decided I wanted my own domain and made the switch to a wordpress layout then. It is completely different and pretty frustrating at first, but nothing that can’t be done.
Yes, the yellow water, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that when I was adding the food colouring!! Silly!
I would be up for getting together with the boys for sure. You guys homeschool too right? We just started this year and it is so fun.
Thanks so much for the comment!
Yep. We are home schoolers. Love it! So, maybe after Thanksgiving we can get together??
