XOXO Max

He gave the best head-butts (givingĀ  you a bloody nose if you weren't expecting it). Max was a lover, he let the boys lay on him, pet him the wrong way it didn't matter because he just wanted the attention. If anyone was crying he would come over and sit with you until you stopped, rubbing his head on your face the whole time. I really haven't ever met a cat as friendly as Max.

This last week we had to put Max down, he was 12 and developed some major health problems, among them diabetes. We debated and knew that it just wasn't right for him or for us to have to treat him for it.

We all imagine that Max has little wings and is flying above us in our dreams. I don't care what anyone says, I think there will be animals in heaven. No question.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of your dear sweet Max. I absolutely positively believe that we will see our pets again in Heaven!

  2. As far as cats go, Max was pretty great. He had the attitude of a cat, but was friendly, almost like a dog (i know that is blasphemy)
Even though I was extremely allergic to him, i couldnt help but pet him every time he came up to me…or when i’d wake up and he was sleeping on our matress.

  3. My sympathies – my husband and I lost a pet a couple of weeks ago, and know how heartrending it can be!

  4. Beautiful photos, Bethany. I’m sure Max is in your dreams…

  5. tears Bethany.. My dad just put his cat (used to be mine) last week “church” was 17 years old.. lots of love to you!

  6. I am so sorry. A couple years back I had to put my cat down, as well. Her health was failing due to complications with her epilepsy. She would also sit with me when I was upset/crying, and I know how it feels to lose a cat friend.
I’m glad you have some great photos of Max to have always.

  7. I agree Bethany- there will be animals in heaven. So sorry.

  8. I am also sure there will be Tuffy [ our Dog] there in heaven!
So Max will have company.. Hope Max tells him that we miss him even now… after so many years!

  9. Sorry to hear about Max. The loss of a pet is so hard. =/

  10. Oh! What a handsome boy! I’m so sorry you had to put him down. It’s a brave thing to do to realize that it’s not best for you or him to try to treat him. The cat I had when I was a kid had kidney problems and needed IV treatments all the time. We did them, and they worked, but they were constant. With the cat we have now – I couldn’t do that to her. She has a different temperament and that kind of constant medical treatment would be just miserable for her and for us. Sometimes, the kindest thing you can do is let go.

  11. How sad! He looks like he was a very sweet kitty!

  12. I”m so very sorry. It’s tough to lose a furry family member.

  13. Max and I were best friends for two weeks! I was so glad everyday to “come home” and see him. I miss him too :’(

  14. Sorry for your loss. ((HUGS))

  15. Friend, I am SO sorry for your loss.

  16. I waited to read this post because I knew it would make me cry. Didn’t matter if I’d read it when you first posted it or now…I still have tears.
