so timely, this post! i just purchased a two-room swiss army tent in brand-new condition for $30 at a yard sale over the weekend. my parents have 3 acres of property and my 3 1/2-year-old nephew wants to go 'camping.' i figured we'd start small and work our way up to the real wilderness. :)

love your pictures--looks like you had such fun!

Yeah, camping is so different, you take time to play games, sit, eat laugh and just watch your setting change throughout the day. Do people camp in China?

The dutch oven doesn't require open flame which is one of the reasons I like it, you just use briquettes and have some on top and some one the bottom- still I guess you need to light them somehow...

Wow, you bring back to mind so many of my own summer memories with this post ;-).
I love camping and always have, the freedom and the back to basic life. I love your pics! It's so the way camping feels to me! And I'm feeling hungry watching your food pics. We don't have a Dutch oven (although we should have since we *are* Dutch lol) because in most European campsites it's not allowed to have an open fire or fire rings like you have in the US (we enjoyed it during our trip in California on the campsites there though). We do have a Cobb (a south african outdoor cooking pot) and we love to cook with it.
Ah well, camping definitely is one of the things I'm sooooo going to miss here in China... we camped so often (we love to escape the city so we often camped in the weekends too). So it's good to see your pics :-))
