I really would like to recommend you read A Hundred Secret Senses next. That was a great book as well. I love all of her work and it was great to meet her in St. Louis at the Sigma Tau Delta convention in the late 90s. She was so animated. This is my favorite Amy Tan book. Amy Tan is one of my favorite authors and I think The Kitchen God's Wife is her best (I gave it 5 stars too!). I've read all her books (including one memoir) apart from the last one - Saving Fish from Drowning (but it's sitting on my shelf ready to be read). Her fictions are all pretty much on the same level--which is good. I’m so happy you liked this book.
